DOLORES MARVELOUS are a Swedish/Cornish garage alt-rock outfit making waves on the Southwest music scene. Their keenly awaited debut album, LIFE IS MARVELOUS, scheduled for a Spring release in 2024, promises something very special indeed.
Founded by singer/guitarist Pna Andersson, Dolores Marvelous burst onto the scene last autumn with a performance at BBC Introducing Stage at Little Orchard Festival in September. Shortly afterwards, the band began recording at Cube Recording Studios in Cornwall.
Each of the four is a formidable musician in their own right. Combined, Dolores Marvelous have an onstage chemistry and power that has already earned them a rapidly-growing fan base. It’s the authenticity of their live performances that Andersson has worked so hard to capture while putting the final touches to LIFE IS MARVELOUS at Scarecrow Studios in Sweden.
With the band based in Newquay, Cornwall, it’s hardly surprising that the album is as much influenced by the forces of nature as it is by ordinary human struggles in these hardest of times.
Their songs are mesmerising and full of shadow-play. Like a riptide, their riffs and vocal pyrotechnics catch the listener off balance, sweeping them down into the darkest deep – a mysterious world of secrets, heartache, and swirling currents – then lifting them to the surface with equal dexterity.
Above the sparkling surface, we all ‘Smile and Wave’, regardless of what lies beneath. Despite its bitter ironies, ‘Life is Marvelous.’
